Anyone involved in trade law knows the time-consuming nature of obtaining primary source material and consulting each of the main trade laws. In Towards a New CISG, Leandro Tripodi discusses the aging and need for renovation of the 1980 Vienna Sales Convention. Changes in global political circumstances and to the economy of international sales of goods have rendered the 1980 CISG a dated legal instrument. Its recognized flexibility is not sufficient to cope with past and, especially, with future changes brought about by the introduction of new technologies affecting all kinds of goods subject to trade. In light of the challenges posed by 21st-century commerce, Dr. Tripodi proposes the adoption of a Convention on the International Sale of Goods and Services (CISGS). The idea of a new convention is based on the following facts: 1) goods and services are no longer as distinguishable as they were in 1980; 2) sales of goods and sales (i.e., the provision) of services are not as easy to apportion as the CISG supposes and can hardly continue to be treated separately by the legal sources of international trade.

A New Global Economic Order: New Challenges to International Trade Law examines the dislocating effects of the policies implemented by the Trump Administration on the global economic order. Leading scholars and practitioners of international economic law come together to defend multilateralism against unilateralism and populism. Further, the book analyzes the current US Administration’s new national recovery blueprint on how to draw a line of demarcation from previous policies. Edited by Chia-Jui Cheng, the collection offers a compelling new strategy for defending a multilateral international economic order which preserves the public good, international peace and prosperity, and shapes a new global economic order, leading to "a new community of the common destiny of mankind".

The Law of International Conflict deals with three key principles of modern international law that are related to each other from a policy-oriented perspective. The prohibition in the UN Charter has not stopped the threat or use of force, since the system of collective security of the World Organization still fails to effectively enforce it. On the other hand, the UN has developed peacekeeping operations, non-military sanctions, the international administration of territories, tribunals trying individuals for serious breaches of international humanitarian law and the concept of responsibility to protect. The prohibition of intervention, i.e. coercion below armed force, also poses numerous problems. The alternative, the peaceful settlement of disputes, can be achieved by various methods, all of which have advantages and shortcomings.

With different countries ascribing to different theories of air space and outer space law, Dr. Bittencourt Neto proposes in this Brief a reassessment of the international law related to the extension of state territories vertically. Taking into consideration the vast number of proposals offered by scholars and diplomatic delegations on this subject matter, as well as the principles of comparative law, a compromise to allow for peaceful development is the only way forward. The author argues for setting the delimitation of the frontier between air space and outer space at 100 km above mean sea level through an international treaty. This would also regulate passage rights for space objects duri...
