This manual describes a PASCAL extension for scientific computation with the short title PASCAL-XSC (PASCAL eXtension for Scientific Computation). The language is the result of a long term effort of members of the Institute for Applied Mathematics of Karlsruhe University and several associated scientists. PASCAL XSC is intended to make the computer more powerful arithmetically than usual. Christian A. Ullrich investigates the optimization potential of integrated supply chain scheduling approaches. Considering a company-internal supply chain, the author ́s first research question is whether the results of integrating machine scheduling and vehicle routing are significantly better than those of classic decomposition approaches which break down the overall problem and solve the subproblems successively. The scope is then broadened to include the machine and transportation scheduling problems of two and more companies at consecutive supply chain stages. The last part of this dissertation addresses supply chain contracting issues.

These proceedings contain 27 papers, which are the peer-reviewed versions of presentations made at the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) symposium “Gravity, Geoid and Height Systems 2016” (GGHS2016). GGHS2016 was the first Joint international symposium organized by IAG Commission 2 “Gravity Field”, the International Gravity Field Service (IGFS) and the GGOS Focus Area “Unified Height System”. It took place in Thessaloniki, Greece, in September 19-23, 2016 at the premises of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The symposium was organized by the Department of Geodesy and Surveying of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which presently hosts the IGFS Central Bureau. The focus of the Symposium was on methods for observing, estimating and interpreting the Earth gravity field as well as its applications. GGHS2016 continued the long and successful history of IAG’s Commission 2 Symposia.

This is the proceedings of the SIGAL International Symposium on Algorithms held at CSK Information Education Center, Tokyo, Japan, August 16-18, 1990. SIGAL (Special Interest Group on Algorithms) was organized within the Information Processing Society of Japan in 1988 to encourage research in the field of discrete algorithms, and held 6-8 research meetings each year. This symposium is the first international symposium organized by SIGAL. In response to the call for papers, 88 papers were submitted from around the world. The program committee selected 34 for presentation at the symposium. The symposium also included 5 invited lectures and 10 invited presentations. The subjects of the papers range widely in the field of discrete algorithms in theoretical computer science. Keywords for these subjects are: computational geometry, graph algorithms, complexity theory, parallel algorithms, distributed computing, and computational algebra.
