Glass fibres are melt-spun, silica-based inorganic materials. Their main application is in glass fibre-reinforced composites, which account for more than 90% of all fibre-reinforced composites currently produced. Nevertheless, improvement of the key properties of composites remains challenging. This volume highlights the latest advances, innovations, and applications in the field of fibre-reinforced concrete (FRC), as presented by scientists and engineers at the RILEM-fib X International Symposium on Fibre Reinforced Concrete (BEFIB), held in Valencia, Spain, on September 20-22, 2021. It discusses a diverse range of topics concerning FRC: technological aspects, nanotechnologies related with FRC, mechanical properties, long-term properties, analytical and numerical models, structural design, codes and standards, quality control, case studies, Textile-Reinforced Concrete, Geopolymers and UHPFRC. After the symposium postponement in 2020, this new volume concludes the publication of the research works and knowledge of FRC in the frame of BEFIB from 2020 to 2021 with the successful celebration of the hybrid symposium BEFIB 2021. The contributions present traditional and new ideas that will open novel research directions and foster multidisciplinary collaboration between different specialists.

Carbon fiber is an oft-referenced material that serves as a means to remove mass from large transport infrastructure. Carbon fiber composites, typically plastics reinforced with the carbon fibers, are key materials in the 21st century and have already had a significant impact on reducing CO2 emissions. Though, as with any composite material, the interface where each component meets, in this case the fiber and plastic, is critical to the overall performance. This text summarizes recent efforts to manipulate and optimize the interfacial interaction between these dissimilar materials to improve overall performance.
This is the proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Strain-Hardening Cement-Based Composites (SHCC4), that was held at the Technische Universität Dresden, Germany from 18 to 20 September 2017. The conference focused on advanced fiber-reinforced concrete materials such as strain-hardening cement-based composites (SHCC), textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) and high-performance fiber-reinforced cement-based composites (HPFRCC). All these new materials exhibit pseudo-ductile behavior resulting from the formation of multiple, fine cracks when subject to tensile loading. The use of such types of fiber-reinforced concrete could revolutionize the planning, development, dimensioning, structural and architectural design, construction of new and strengthening and repair of existing buildings and structures in many areas of application. The SHCC4 Conference was the follow-up of three previous successful international events in Stellenbosch, South Africa in 2009, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2011, and Dordrecht, The Netherlands in 2014.
Peter Seyb (1794-1863) married Katherine Elizabeth Schmieh, and in 1835 the family immigrated from Germany to land near Townline, Erie County, New York. In 1884 the family moved to Lee County, Iowa. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, Iowa, Missouri, Texas, California and elsewhere.

Taking an interpretive approach which understands the middle class as a socially constructed category, it combines discourse analysis, welfare state theory, and interpretive policy analysis in an innovative way to investigate how the middle class becomes a meaningful object of public debates and policymaking.
