Jacobus Rop and his wife, Henrietta with two children were the first of the family to leave the Netherlands in 1863. He enticed all his family to emigrate. One relative, Jacob and his wife, Dieuwerke Kwiekman with two children arrived in 1889. They all settled near Muskegon, Michigan.
