The Way You Burn
When David approaches his New Hampshire cabin one cool October night to find it engulfed in flames, he knows his girlfriend Hope set the fire. At least, he’s pretty sure he knows. The Lane Family
Jackson Lane (1829-1908), son of John and Katherine Estep Lane, was born in Scott Co., Va. He came to Russell County with his mother and step-father, Reuben Powers. Russell County became Wise county in 1856 and later Dickenson County in 1880. He married 1852 in Russell County, Va. Sarah "Sally" Jane Ritchie (1836-1884), daughter of John and Kezia "Cassie" Hill Ritchie. She was born in Virginia. They settled on Lick Fork in Wise County. They were parents of twelve children born between 1853 and 1879. Descendants live in Virginia and elsewhere. Early Lane immigrants came to Virginia as early as 1635

Phylogenesis of Immune Functions
This volume discusses recent advances in research regarding the evolution of specific and nonspecific defense responses in a taxonomically diverse array of species. Topics regarding invertebrates include the protective mechanisms (cellular and molecular) employed by insects, the protective roles of lectins, and the self-nonself discrimination revealed by tissue incompatibility reactions. With vertebrates, the evolution of the immunoglobulin-related superfamily of recognition molecules (including immunoglobulins and the major histocompatibility complex molecules) is examined over several chapters. Other topics reviewed include the evolution of nonimmunoglobulin mediators of defense (e.g., cytokines and eicosanoids), lymphocyte subpopulations (including effects of ambient temperature on function) and the phylogenetic emergence of natural killer cells.
