Jason Shaw is a police officer in Huntsville, California. A former US Marine, he is a happy father and husband who takes his job seriously and has just been transferred from narcotics and vice to the Huntsville Gang Task Force Unit. A month after the transfer, mysterious attacks begin one night when a criminal sets a trap outside the Shaw home. Although the Shaws escape the clumsy attempt, there are no suspects, and Shaw believes the amateurish trap might have been a juvenile prank. As time passes, however, the attacks escalate. Who is trying to terrorize the cop and his family? Is it an ex-con Shaw put away or gang member with a beef? Someone is desperately trying to put Shaw in the ground, but the police have no leads. As a media frenzy ensues after every attack, a community once thought to be safe falls further into the grip of panic and terror. Meanwhile, Shaw will do what it takes to keep his family safe, even if it means taking matters into his own hands and letting the attackers know that no one messes with a cop on his own beat.

Chuck and Blanche Johnson's Wilderness Adventures Wild Game Cookbook

Wilderness Adventures Wild Game Cookbook is our second wild game cookbook. We have selected 100 recipes from our first book, Savor Wild Game, and added 135 new recipes. You'll find great recipes for wild game as well as great wine selections. There are also abundant tips for the proper preparation of game and the proper way to cook the various types of game. Field & Stream reviewer, Jonathan Miles, raved about our first Savor Wild Game Cookbook. "This is the book I'd turn to first after bagging a brace of pheasants or pulling a deer roast from the deep freeze. The Johnsons, a Montana-based couple, have been hunting and cooking together for four decades." Gray's Sporting Journal reviewer, Chris Camuto said, "The Johnsons hunt and cook with soul. This inviting nicely-produced cookbook is destined to become dog-eared and stained with use - the best endorsement a cookbook can have." Book jacket.

The Root: The Marines In Beirut

THE ROOT The Marines in Beirut August 1982–February 1984 Eric Hammel Facing northward out of a second-deck window, the lance corporal was hurled through the window and out into mid- air. He fell thirty feet to the ground and landed on his feet. He was not harmed until falling debris struck him on the head and shoulders. Nearly every other member of the recon platoon in his compartment was killed in the inferno. At 6:22 A.M. on October 23, 1983, a yellow Mercedes truck raced across the parking lot of the Beirut International Airport in Lebanon. Crashing through a chain-link gate into the 24th Marine Amphibious Unit’s headquarters compound, it raced on careening through a shack and into ...

One Man's Life and Thoughts

SING ONE SONG FOR ME Now it was just a simple casket made of pine and iron nails, Without a trace of carving or any polished brass for rails. It was assembled from a broken box splintered from abuse, Yet it had a simple beauty despite the way it had been used. It was placed before the altar on a stand of polished stone, A simple casket made of pine for a loved ones fi nal home. Only present there was silence not a choir was there to sing, Not one voice to sing his praises not a single human being. I cannot forget my sadness when they took the casket down, And placed it in a six foot hole beneath the cold, cold ground. Not one voice had sung his praises not a soul was there to see, And I wondered at my passing who would sing a song for me. Charles T. Johnson 9/20/96 “Sing One Song For Me” is a poem based on a song done by the Stanley Brothers called “Who Will Sing For Me.” It has been one of those songs that have always touched me deeply. I have spent a great deal of time alone, and I can relate to one asking if there will be anyone that will sing for me.
