O presente trabalho discute as representações de modernização construídas pelos fotógrafos de ascendência italiana Domingos e Reno Mancuso, tendo como suporte a fotografia. O cenário é a colônia/cidade de Caxias do Sul, na primeira metade do século XX. O acervo analisado trata-se de um conjunto de 190 fotografias que têm como temática central as mudanças e permanências verificadas no centro urbano de Caxias do Sul, registrando a sua passagem de sede colonial para urbe moderna. O recorte temporal contempla o período de funcionamento dos ateliês fotográficos mantidos pelos profissionais, quais sejam o Atelier Mancuso e A Casa do Amador, considerando que Domingos atuou entre 1...
