(Soft-Cover Print) A book of selected poems and stories by me, Cliff Rhodes. This is the second edition of my poems and is now finished. This book contains all of the 2007 poems, a few stories, and the writings of 2008. I designed my own cover. It is a copy of a water color painting of one of the aloe vera plants that grow plentifully in my house. I hope you enjoy reading my poems as much as I have enjoyed writing them. Love heals and makes all things new.
My poems for 2009.
(Soft-Cover print) I designed this front cover myself, has some violence and mature inuendos) Rated Teen.------ A lone agent looking for a key to uncover a mystery of great world shaking proportions has ventured into unknown territory that no one else has returned from. His mind, his training, and his dedication are all that hold him to his quest to make contact and take advantage of a mysterious hidden culture. He is swept up into a new world he is not prepared for and has to survive to save the Earth from destruction...........Her eyes were so intense that for a moment I thought she had seen me, but it was something else. The quick movements, all of them made were inhuman, more like hyper-robotic. They were all female but they moved almost as if they were electronic. It was astonishing; the movements they made. They were robotic. They had to be! Nothing human could move that way or want to, comfortably........
Paperback: This book relates an unbelievable tale of drafting phantazmagoria and the antics of an egomaniacal engineer, intent on making as much money as possible. The engineer's quest was done not by breaking any laws but by staying exactly within the law and walking along the top of the fence for as long as possible. It was done regardless of what safeguards were drained away to almost the last drop. Space and time catch up to overcome evil in the form of two beautiful young aliens, who change the course of history.
(Soft-cover print) This book is a group of fantastic short stories from another planet. Ten completely new and different short stories within these pages describe a unique although not exactly human being, yet they are tales about more than just special people, the Martians. This is science fiction about not only space ships, but also about believable, extraordinary, extrasensory beings. In my stories I have tried to find not only Martian space ships but also the Martian mind. Mars is a planet that will always hold our fascination, even if we never leave the Earth.
(Soft Cover) This is a book of poetry that denotes my spirit and the way I have put into words my thoughts and imaginations for 2009 and 2010.
Over his 30 years as a wildlife protection officer for the California Department of Fish and Game, Steve Callan and his working partner, Dave Szody, conducted some of the most fascinating, complex and highly successful wildlife investigations in California history. They also collected a wealth of true stories--action-packed, suspenseful and often humorous.
"This book relates a tale of terrorism and artificial intelligence which takes over the entire world, creeping into all phases of U.S. economics, political, military, and electronic communication. Prevention is the best medicine, and being farsighted gives warnings of premonitions and bad dreams of a possible dystopian future, not just a projection for terrorist takeover. To become aware of how it could be done is a must read for the espionage and CIA enthusiast and those who want to prevent electronic terrorism by changing the present."--Jacket.
A Coal Miner's Family at Mooseheart describes the lives of Homer Rhodes' widow and children at Mooseheart, IL, from 1919-1939. An orphan's home-school, which still operates, Mooseheart is arguably one of the most unusual child care programs of the 20th Century. This story begins with my family's arrival at Mooseheart and my rough introduction to the boys' codes of behavior. I report on how a Demerit system was replaced by a Merit system that worked well for 1,300 students living in this community which absolutely prohibited corporal punishment. Also I explain our daily routines. Further sections illustrate how the Founder's idealistic vision worked for our family and the students we knew: 1)...
