Many scientists now widely agree that the current paradigm of statistical significance should be abandoned or largely modified. In response to these calls for change, a Special Issue of Econometrics (MDPI) has been proposed. This book is a collection of the articles that have been published in this Special Issue. These seven articles add new insights to the problem and propose new methods that lay a solid foundation for the new paradigm for statistical significance.

IT Security Risk Management

This book provides a comprehensive conceptualization of perceived IT security risk in the Cloud Computing context that is based on six distinct risk dimensions grounded on a structured literature review, Q-sorting, expert interviews, and analysis of data collected from 356 organizations. Additionally, the effects of security risks on negative and positive attitudinal evaluations in IT executives' Cloud Computing adoption decisions are examined. The book’s second part presents a mathematical risk quantification framework that can be used to support the IT risk management process of Cloud Computing users. The results support the risk management processes of (potential) adopters, and enable providers to develop targeted strategies to mitigate risks perceived as crucial.

Hepatocellular carcinoma: from personalized medicine to practical guidelines

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer. HCC is the fourth cause of cancer-related mortality and the fifth most common cancer in the world. The prognosis and survival of patients depend mainly on the cancer stage at time of diagnosis. Earlier detection of the disease has seen improvement in treatment and disease-free survival over the last several decades. Currently, the only curable treatment for HCC is tumor resection or transplantation. These measures are strictly successful only if caught during early-stage HCC. Research has identified multiple molecular pathways involved in HCC on genetic, epigenetic, and proteomic levels. There has been a lot of research into designing drugs to specifically target these molecular pathways affected in patients, and thus contributing to personalized medical treatment. There is abundant bioinformatic research to document the extensive molecular pathways involved as well as drug docking techniques used to assess drug candidates for treating those affected pathways. These bioinformatic techniques result in identifying candidates suitable for further analysis in tissue and animal models and human trials.
