The traditional concept of a neuroendocrine mechanism for regulation of growth hormone (GH) secretion is based in large part on the work of Roger Guillemin. The work of Dr. Guillemin, who was awarded the 1977 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine, supported the view that quantita tive change in GH secretion was the net result of pituitary stimulation and inhibition by the hypothalamic neurohormones, GH releasing hormone (GHRH), and somatostatin (somatotropin release inhibiting factor; SRIF), respectively. Keller
In the late 1800s, pioneers settled in the northeast Texas region of Cross Timbers known as Double Springs. In 1875, Isaac Roberts, a farmer who owned more than 600 acres, left a parcel of his land to A. G. Roberts, who then sold the right-of-way to the Texas and Pacific Railway for $25. A new town was formed, and in 1882, it was named Keller in honor of the railroad foreman who was instrumental in making the area a regular stop along the railroad. With the railroad bringing new visitors and residents, a post office was created in 1888, and new businesses started forming. The Works Progress Administration provided jobs for many Keller residents during the Great Depression, and the results of those projects shaped the way the city looks today. As of 2010, Old Town Keller was undergoing a new phase of revitalization while maintaining its connection to the hardy pioneers that once called Keller home.
A Numerical Analysis of CO2 Laser Radiation Absorption in SF6 -air Laminar Boundary Layers
Numerical results are presented for the radiative gasdynamic interaction associated with CO2 laser radiation absorption in SF6-air laminar compressible boundary layers. Detailed boundary layer profiles and the variation of radiative intensity are obtained for the sonic flow over a flat plate at sea level, wherein SF6 is injected into the boundary layer through the surface, and CO2 laser radiation at 10.6 micrometers is incident on the plate downstream of the injection. The numerical solution of the non-similar boundary layer equations employs a difference-differential technique. (Modified author abstract).
