Daniel Bennett Schwartz

A fascinating look at the artist's most important and thought-provoking painting. Containing numerous details of the work, taken by renowned photographer, David Finn, the book sheds light on the thought processes and techniques of a talented artist, who spent fifteen years completing this single painting. An acute observer with a passion for the classic human form, Schwartz's paintings are timeless and unaffected by the changes that constantly buffet contemporary art.

Uneasy Citizenship

For Christians, it might seem like a confusing time to approach the political world. Polarization and partisanship threaten to divide communities, including the church. At the same time, American politics and government requires participation from its citizens, and Christians are called to be in the world for the sake of God’s kingdom. How, exactly, are Christians to respond faithfully to an increasingly toxic political environment? In Uneasy Citizenship, political scientist Daniel Bennett proposes a way forward for the politically engaged and weary alike. Identifying both challenges and opportunities stemming from the contemporary political environment, Bennett argues for a distinctly Chr...

'In ?West South North, North South East?, Daniel Bennett envisages landscapes of decay; urban Britain as a ruined, post-apocalyptic wasteland, haunted by its past, at odds with its present, fearful of its future; countryside and coast bound loosely together by mud and mildew. This book explores the impact of new forms of online reporting on the BBC’s coverage of war and terrorism. Informed by the views of over 100 BBC staff at all levels of the corporation, Bennett captures journalists’ shifting attitudes towards blogs and internet sources used to cover wars and other conflicts. He argues that the BBC’s practices and values are fundamentally evolving in response to the challenges of immediate digital publication. Ongoing challenges for journalism in the online media environment are identified: maintaining impartiality in the face of calls for more open personal journalism; ensuring accuracy when the power of the "former audience" allows news to break at speed; and overcoming the limits of the scale of the BBC’s news operation in order to meet the demands to present news as conversation. While the focus of the book is on the BBC’s coverage of war and terrorism, the conclusions are more widely relevant to the evolving practice of journalism at traditional media organizations as they grapple with a revolution in publication.

All the Dogs

"The allure of Herointown beckons as Monkey returns to his Shropshire birthplace. The redbrick castle, the market stalls, the curves of the river: all resonate with memories of a drug-filled past. Tired of his waywardness, his mother has made a new life, and so must Monkey. Hidden in the hills on the outskirts of town, he finds a mansion where a yellow greyhound skulks on the steps. This rural squat becomes his home - and, in a makeshift ecstasy factory, his workplace too. While shunning the power struggles of his housemates, he is surprised by his connection with local girl Jenn and begins to plot his tricky escape. In this debut Bennett compellingly evokes the mood of modern England as he combines the beauty of its countryside with the atmosphere of a community in disarray."--BOOK JACKET.

A Passion for the Fatherless

A Passion for the Fatherless is written to help believers develop a God-centered ministry to the orphan. It exposes believers to the Scriptural mandate to care for orphans, helps them understand why God has issued that call, and equips them to joyfully respond to that call. It strives to achieve this purpose by developing a vibrant theology of orphan ministry for the church. Each chapter is accompanied with study questions so that it can be used in both personal study or with a small-group.
