This year marks the third edition of EuroSSC. It builds on the success of the past editions, held in Enschede, The Netherlands in 2006, and in Kendal, UK in 2007. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to welcome you to EuroSSC 2008, in Zurich, Switerland. This volume contains the invited papers and technical peer-reviewed papers selected for presentation at the conference. At EuroSSC we aim to explore technologies, algorithms, architectures, p- tocols, and user aspects underlying context-aware smart surroundings, coop- ating intelligent objects, and their applications. Since its inception, EuroSSC has taken a complementary technology-driven and user-driven view to discuss thes...
The two-volume set LNCS 7382 and 7383 constiutes the refereed proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Computers Helping People with Special Needs, ICCHP 2012, held in Linz, Austria, in July 2012. The 147 revised full papers and 42 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 364 submissions. The papers included in the first volume are organized in the following topical sections: universal learning design; putting the disabled student in charge: user focused technology in education; access to mathematics and science; policy and service provision; creative design for inclusion, virtual user models for designing and using inclusive products; web accessibility in advanced technologies, website accessibility metrics; entertainment software accessibility; document and media accessibility; inclusion by accessible social media; a new era for document accessibility: understanding, managing and implementing the ISO standard PDF/UA; and human-computer interaction and usability for elderly.
We are very pleased to present this LNCS volume, the proceedings of the 8th InternationalConferenceonParallelProblemSolvingfromNature(PPSNVIII). PPSN is one of the most respected and highly regarded conference series in evolutionary computation and natural computing/computation. This biennial eventwas?rstheldinDortmundin1990,andtheninBrussels(1992),Jerusalem (1994), Berlin (1996), Amsterdam (1998), Paris (2000), and Granada (2002). PPSN VIII continues to be the conference of choice by researchers all over the world who value its high quality. We received a record 358 paper submissions this year. After an extensive peer review process involving more than 1100 reviews, the programme c- mittee ...
Welcome to the 5th European Conference on Smart Sensing and Context.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12 European Conference on Wireless Sensor Networks, EWSN 2015, held in Porto, Portugal, in February 2015. The 14 full papers and 9 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 85 submissions. They cover a wide range of topics grouped into five sessions: services and applications, mobility and delay-tolerance, routing and data dissemination, and human-centric sensing.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Workshop on Ant Colony Optimization and Swarm Intelligence, ANTS 2004, held in Brussels, Belgium in September 2004. The 22 revised full papers, 19 revised short papers, and 9 poster abstracts presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 79 papers submitted. The papers are devoted to theoretical and foundational aspects of ant algorithms, ant colony optimization and swarm intelligence and deal with a broad variety of optimization applications in networking and operations research.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Machine Learning and Data Mining in Pattern Recognition, MLDM 2013, held in New York, USA in July 2013. The 51 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 212 submissions. The papers cover the topics ranging from theoretical topics for classification, clustering, association rule and pattern mining to specific data mining methods for the different multimedia data types such as image mining, text mining, video mining and web mining.
This volume constitutes the revised papers of the 4th European Conference on Smart Sensing and Context, Euro SSC 2009, held in Guilford, UK, in September 2009. This volume consists of 16 full papers. Each paper received at least three peer reviews. The conference and proceedings were structured into 6 main tracks which discussed the key themes addressed by EuroSCC 2009: activity recognition, information aspects of context-aware sensor and actuator systems, context-aware service platforms, context processing, reasoning and fusion, real-world experiences with deployed systems, and context-aware frameworks in mobile environments.
