At the hands of her abusive husband, Gabriella almost loses her life. She has just enough energy left to run. When she runs away, she takes his son, Nicky, with her. She is rescued by a handsome man, Taylor Boudreaux, who controls over three thousand acres of farmland in rural Louisiana. The Boudreaux family are so caring. They take her and Nicky in until she is well enough to leave. However, Taylor Boudreaux decides she should stay. He makes her an offer: one year of marriage and an heir for enough money for Gabriella and Nicky to go anywhere they desire. Will she take his offer? Can she ever trust a man again?

This book provides the first in-depth look at male and female elected officials of color using survey and other empirical data.
Heinrich Sieglin (1747-1810) married Rachel (Regina?) after Christmas 1772, and served with troops from Northampton County, Pennsylvania during the Revolutionary War. Inscriptions on his grave are in German; earlier in the volume, there is discussion indicating the Siglin or Sieglin family originated in England, went to Holland as Pilgrims, and later immigrated to Pennsylvania speaking a Germanic language. Descendants (chiefly spelling the surname Siglin) and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Texas and elsewhere.
