This book contains a overview of the sublimation process, the products available, sources, business aspects of a sublimation business and is intended to serve as a reference manual for anyone working with sublimation.
Ever since 1911, the Solvay Conferences have shaped modern physics. The 25th edition held in October 2011 in Brussels and chaired by David Gross continued this tradition and celebrated the first centennial of this illustrious series of conferences. The development and applications of quantum mechanics have always been the main threads in the history of the Solvay Conferences, hence the 25th Solvay conference gathered many of the leading figures working on a wide variety of profound problems in physics where quantum mechanical effects play a central role. The conference addressed some of the most pressing open questions in the field of physics. The proceedings contain the OC rapporteur talksOC...
Ever since 1911, the Solvay Conferences have shaped modern physics. The 23rd edition, chaired by 2004 Nobel Laureate David Gross, did not break with that tradition. It gathered most of the leading figures working on the central problem of reconciling EinsteinOCOs theory of gravity with quantum mechanics. These proceedings give a broad overview with unique insight into the most fundamental issues raised by this challenge for 21st century physics, by distinguished renowned scientists. The contributions cover: the status of quantum mechanics, spacetime singularities and breakdown of classical space and time, mathematical structures underlying the most promising attempts under current development, spacetime as an emergent concept, as well as cosmology and the cosmological constant puzzle. A historical overview of the Solvay conferences by historian of sciences Peter Galison opens the volume. In the Solvay tradition, the volume also includes the discussions among the participants OCo many of which were quite lively and illustrate dramatically divergent points of view OCo carefully edited and reproduced in full."
Leading theorists share their important insights into the ongoing quest of theoretical physics to find a quantum theory of gravity.
Editors Laurie Brown, Max Dresden, Lillian Hoddeson and Michael Riordan have brought together a distinguished group of elementary particle physicists and historians of science to explore the recent history of particle physics. Based on a conference held at Stanford University, this is the third volume of a series recounting the history of particle physics and offers the most up-to-date account of the rise of the Standard Model, which explains the microstructure of the world in terms of quarks and leptons and their interactions. Major contributors include Steven Weinberg, Murray Gell-Mann, Michael Redhead, Silvan Schweber, Leon Lederman and John Heilbron. The wide-ranging articles explore the detailed scientific experiments, the institutional settings in which they took place, and the ways in which the many details of the puzzle fit together to account for the Standard Model.
Multi-author volume on the history and philosophy of physics.
This book highlights the pivotal roles of individuals in England’s complex sixteenth-century reformations. While many historians study broad themes, such as religious moderation, this volume is centred on the perspective that great changes are instigated not by themes, or ‘isms’, but rather by people – a point recently underlined in the 2017 quincentenary commemorations of Martin Luther’s protest in Germany. That sovereigns from Henry VIII to Elizabeth I largely drove religious policy in Tudor England is well known. Instead, the essays collected in this volume, inspired by the quincentenary and based upon original research, take a novel approach, emphasizing the agency of some of t...
Are you successful? Why do you think that? What would make you more successful? Earning more money? Having a more prestigious job? Selling everything you own and moving to an island in the Pacific? From Mainland to Maui: Awakening From "The American Dream" is a two-part guide to redefining success according to your own personal definition. Part one is the true account of a teenager from Ohio who saved money waiting tables to start a new life on the island of Maui. He came for the beach life. What he learned in the process was that success comes in many ways and forms.Part two outlines a method for determining what you truly value in life in order to make the changes necessary to achieve fulfillment. By doing exactly what you deem to be worth your time and effort, success is inevitable.
