David Klein was born in 1962. He started his working life in engineering, during which time he was fortunate to meet the sculptor John Jennings, and later become his assistant. This experience led him to make the bold step to further realise his passion for sculpting, by doing a Fine Art Degree at Staffordshire University, from 1992-1994. He continued his studies with a further two years at the Frink School of Sculpture doing a postgraduate course in figurative sculpting, from 1994-1996. David now lives and carves on the South Coast of England, close to the quarries where he personally sources his materials.

General Chemistry I as a Second Language

Many students and instructors are overwhelmed by the vast amount of content and concepts presented in General Chemistry. Students often emerge from the course with little understanding of chemical concepts and must be retaught in subsequent courses. This supplemental text can be paired with Olmsted/Williams, Brady, Spencer or any other General Chemistry title. David Klein is a lecturer at Johns Hopkins University where he teaches Organic and General Chemistry. He is a dynamic and creative teacher and uses analogy to help students grasp difficult topics. Klein’s unique informal voice and manner of presentation help students truly master key topics in this course. He is also the author of Organic Chemistry as a Second Language; response to this book has been phenomenal.

From Debut Novelist David Klein – A Page-Turning Story of Suburbia and Its Secrets Gwen Raine is a woman readers will instantly recognize: an attractive, thirtyish stay-at-home mom who lives in the kind of tranquil suburban community where the wives spend their days ferrying the kids to and from school and music lessons and nature camps and where the husbands work long, grueling hours at stressful white-collar jobs in order to maintain the upscale standard of living to which the whole family has become all-too-accustomed. It’s a milieu in which everything seems to be right—yet so much can go wrong. And it does—starting with a seemingly minor decision that turns Gwen’s perfect life ...

The Making of an Ecologist

This is an innovative and collaborative life history of one of Alaska’s pioneering wildlife biologists. David R. Klein has been a leader in promoting habitat studies across wildlife research in Alaska, and this is his first-hand account of how science and biological fieldwork has been carried out in Alaska in the last sixty years. This book tells the stories of how Klein did his science and the inspiration behind the research, while exposing the thinking that underlies particular scientific theories. In addition, this book shows the evolution of Alaska’s wildlife management regimes from territorial days to statehood to the era of big oil. The first portion of the book is comprised of sto...
