David Tod was born in China in 1938. The family escaped the Japanese invasion in 1939 and after a few years in India, eventually arrived in South London in April 1944, just as the German V1 and V2 rockets were about to fall. Thankfully they missed! Various isolated events and interesting people David met over some eight decades forms most of the book, including his eleven years with the Rolls-Royce Ltd Motor Division. His life took some twists and turns that still make him wonder how they could have happened.
