Diquarks III

Although perturbative QCD has progressed much in the last few years, the notion of diquarks is still useful and vital and many short cuts induced by diquarks can still be very efficient for simulating nonperturbative effects in the intermediate energy region (from a few GeV to some 10–20 GeV), where a whole new generation of machines is being planned and will, hopefully, become operative in the near future. Contents:Historical and Sentimental Remarks on Quarks and Diquarks (D Lichtenberg)Exclusive Final States in Two Gamma Collisions at LEP (T Barillari)Baryon Structure in a Covariant Diquark-Quark Model (G Hellstern et al)Exclusive Photo- and Electro-production of Mesons in the GEV Region...

Diquarks Ii

Two-quark correlations inside baryons play an important role in our understanding of hadronic structures. The Diquarks II workshop was the second on this subject and the proceedings present the most recent contributions and ideas of many experts on the concept of diquarks, their properties and their many applications.

Quantum Gravity, Generalized Theory of Gravitation, and Superstring Theory-Based Unification

Held December 16-19, 1999, these proceedings are derived from the Global Foundation Inc.'s Orbis Scientiae 1999. Topics include: cosmological parameters; unifying elementary particle physics; cosmology; superstrings; and black holes.

Confluence of Cosmology, Massive Neutrinos, Elementary Particles, and Gravitation

Justbefore the preliminary programof Orbis Scientiae 1998 went to press the news in physics was suddenly dominated by the discovery that neutrinos are, after all, massive particles. This was predicted by some physicists including Dr. Behram Kusunoglu, who had apaper published on this subject in 1976 in the Physical Review. Massive neutrinos do not necessarily simplify the physics of elementary particles but they do give elementary particle physics a new direction. If the dark matter content ofthe universe turns out to consist ofneutrinos, the fact that they are massive should make an impact on cosmology. Some of the papers in this volume have attempted to provide answers to these questions. ...

High-Energy Physics and Cosmology

The 25'" Coral Gables Conference was the culmination of the series that was begun in 1964. The conferences evolved under the titles that in~lude: Symmetry Principles at High Energy; Fundamental Interactions; Orbis Scientiae; and, occasionally, Unified Symmetry in the Small and in the Large. There was a pause after the 2()1h meeting in 1983 which was dedicated to P. A. M. Dirac. The conferences were resumed in 1993. Some of the reminiscences involved the absence of great minds who attended these meetings in the past and who were no longer with us. The list includes, just to name a few: Julian Schwinger, Robert Oppenheimer, Lars Onsager, Robert Hofstater, Abdus Salam, Richard Feynman, Stanislo...

Baryons '95 - Proceedings Of The 7th International Conference On The Structure Of Baryons

The conference focused on the current status of baryon spectroscopy, form factors and structure functions, electroweak interactions and symmetries, strange and exotic states, chiral perturbation theory, heavy quark physics, and medium modifications, through plenary session summaries and reviews and parallel session reports of recent experimental and theoretical advances. Plans for future facilities and upgrades were highlighted in special plenary sessions.

Neutron stars are the densest observable bodies in our universe. Born during the gravitational collapse of luminous stars - a birth heralded by spectacular supernova explosions - they open a window on a world where the state of the matter and the strengths of the fields are anything but ordinary. This book is a collection of pedagogical lectures on the theory of neutron stars, and especially their interiors, at the forefront of current research. It addresses graduate students and researchers alike, and should be particularly suitable as a text bridging the gap between standard textbook material and the research literature.
