Lou Salomé

Born in Russia in 1861, Lou Andreas-Salomé is remembered for her friendships with the great thinkers of her day. As well as being a poet, author, narrator and essayist, Salomé was the first female psychoanalyst, and muse to Friedrich Nietzsche, Paul Rée, Rainer Maria Rilke, and Sigmund Freud. In 2022, Italian author and journalist Stefano Santachiara approached Fall in Green, Deborah Edgeley and Mark Sheeky, to create a performance adaptation of his biographical play Loving Lou Salomé. The result was Lou Salomé Empathy With Daisies, a performance of poetry and music, augmented with props and video projection. The premiere took place in the presence of the author in Congleton Library, Cheshire, on the 3rd of August 2022. The album version was recorded shortly after and released digitally and on CD on the 2nd of December 2022. This book contains the words and the piano music of this performance.

The Pixies' Doolittle

The Pixies have had a career unlike any other in alternative rock, disappearing as not-quite-the-next-big-things only to become gods in absentia. Doolittle is their knotty masterpiece, the embodiment of the Pixies abrasive, exuberant, enigmatic pop. Informed by exclusive interviews with the band, Sisario looks at the making of the album and its place in rock history, and studies its continued influence in light of the Pixies triumphant reunion.

The first Manifesto of Surrealism was a rejection of the logical and the rational, and a call to explore the untainted functioning of the mind. The results of its study led to many of the 20th century's great artworks, and founded a movement that permeates every aspect of contemporary art. 21st Century Surrealism attempts to update the principles of the art of the unconscious. This book is a treatise in aesthetics, viewed through the lens of history. It is an examination of the meaning and purpose of art, and why the art of the unconscious remains the most vital spark in creativity. Careful to embrace all media: visual, musical, literary, and others, this engaging and wondrous book, bespeckled with myriad alluring illustrations, examines the workings of the mind with respect to creativity, explores consciousness and unconsciousness, and acts as a guide, inspiration, and a tool box for artists and creative thinkers working in any medium.
