What makes ALDI so special? Take a look behind the Curtain A retailer with an extremely limited assortment and the lowest prices in the market conquers the world with an extraordinary business model and generates Billions in sales and unusual high profits. ALDI does everything differently, ignores the so-called „Best Practices“, has no marketing department, refrains from promotions, is run by a management without any incentive and bonus packages and ignores the press. What is it that makes ALDI so special? What are the essentials of the ALDI system? What’s the corporate culture like? What are the methods of management? What kind of organization does ALDI have? What can anyone from any industry learn from ALDI? This book explains what ALDI’s excellence is based on and how consistency, ascetism and discipline created one of the most successful grocery chains. This new edition also describes how ALDI has changed in recent years after the founders passed away and a new generation of managers took over. ALDI’s successful business model and management practices are at stake. ALDI is about to become more and more ordinary.

From Movement to Inheritance

This book does not only deal with the history, but also with the effects of the Reformation over the mentality, education and scientifical research among Hungarians during the last five centuries. The spirit of the Reformation has not only been a church-forming factor, but also a force of nation-building and salvation. This volume includes 17 studies of Hungarian Reformed theologians presented at a conference in November 2016. The main goal was to give an overview of the most recent research results in history and theology regarding Reformation and its effects over society and mentality among Hungarians. The contributors come from various Hungarian theological universities from the Carpathian basin, thus the book is an overview of their research topics and results. The City Cluj-Napoca was, became and remained an important center of the Reformation, as significant events took place in its surroundings as well. The Faculty of Reformed Theology of the Babeș-Bolyai University and the Protestant Theological Institute has always functioned in an environment, where the challenges of multi-confessionalism and multiethnicity are also present beside interdisciplinarity.

The Victims at the Berlin Wall, 1961-1989

Although many deaths at the Berlin Wall have been publicized over the years in the media, the number, identity and fate of the victims still remain largely unknown. This handbook changes this by answering the following questions: How many people actually died at the Berlin Wall between 1961 and 1989? Who were these people? How did they die? How were their relatives and their friends treated after their deaths? What public and political reactions were triggered in the East and the West by these fatalities? What were the consequences for the border guards who pulled the trigger and the military and political leaders who gave them their orders after the East German border regime collapsed and the Wall fell? How have the victims been commemorated since their deaths? By documenting the lives and circumstances under which these men and women died at the Wall, these deaths are placed in a contemporary historical context. The authors, in addition to systematically researching the relevant archives and examining all the legal proceedings and Stasi documents, also conducted interviews with family members and contemporary witnesses.

The foundation of this publication is a three-part conference held from 25th to 30th May, 2009 in Romania, and organized by the Foundation Reconciliation in South East Europe Sibiu-Romania, in partnership with the World Council of Churches WCC. The first part of the conference took place in the Brancoveanu Monastery in Sambata de Sus with the focus on "Intercontinental Consultation on the Healing of Memories - Reconciliation between Peoples, Cultures and Religions." The second part of conference was realized as a day-circle in the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Faculty and Great Jewish Synagogue of Bucharest to experience the interreligious relations in a capital town of South East Europe. The third and final part of the confernece took place in Constanta on the Black Sea coast as an interreligious and intercultural Bulgarian-Romanian cross country conference. The editors hope that this book encourages peoples to look into their respective generations, remembering and addressing the wounds that have been caused, in order to build towards a future peaceful generation marked by peaceful coexistence of the peoples in South East Europe and in the whole world.

This book illustrates the various facets of internationalization in managerial practice, starting with a strategic outline of the many options firms have when formulating internationalization strategies. Designed as a textbook for Bachelor, Master and MBA classrooms, the core of the book consists of six case studies on firms from diverse industries, such as sporting goods, aviation, grocery discount, motorcycle, computer and IT, and fast-food. The cases present a variety of ways of entering and operating in foreign markets, such as export, franchising, joint ventures, strategic alliances, greenfield-investments, acquisitions and mergers. In addition to market entry strategies, the cases provide readers, educators and students with insights into target market strategies, timing strategies, allocation strategies and coordination strategies of well-known companies.
