Amparo Medina- Romero was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and settled in New York with her family at the young age of nine years old. She is the oldest of six children. Amparo was educated in the New York City Public School System and completed two undergraduate degrees in the CUNY system. Later she attended Manhattan College and Mercy College completing two graduate degrees. She teaches in the New York City Public School System and has done so for the last 25 years. In the school system she has developed curriculum in Spanish and English.
