Aquest volum reuneix els textos de la prà ctica totalitat de les ponències, comunicacions i intervencions a les taules rodones corresponents a les jornades "L'exili republicà : polÃtica i cultura", que tingueren lloc a Palma, al Centre Cultural la Misericòrdia, entre el 18 i el 20 de novembre del 2009. L'objectiu d'aquest encontre, organitzat pel Departament de Cultura i Patrimoni del Consell de Mallorca, va ser establir durant uns dies un espai de debat interdisciplinari entorn de l'impacte polÃtic, social i cultural de l'emigració dels derrotats de la Guerra civil de 1936-39.
Dolores del RÃo
Dolores del RÃo's enormously successful career in Hollywood, in Mexico, and internationally illuminates issues of race, ethnicity, and gender through the lenses of beauty and celebrity. She and her husband left Mexico in 1925, as both their well-to-do families suffered from the economic downturn that followed the Mexican Revolution. Far from being stigmatized as a woman of color, she was acknowledged as the epitome of beauty in the Hollywood of the 1920s and early 1930s. While she insisted upon her ethnicity, she was nevertheless coded white by the film industry and its fans, and she appeared for more than a decade as a romantic lead opposite white actors. Returning to Mexico in the early 1940s, she brought enthusiasm and prestige to the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, becoming one of the great divas of Mexican film. With struggle and perseverance, she overcame the influence of men in both countries who hoped to dominate her, ultimately controlling her own life professionally and personally.

High Resolution Archaeology and Neanderthal Behavior
The aim of this book is to provide a new insight on Neanderthal behaviour using the data recovered in level J of Romanà rockshelter (north-eastern Spain). Due to the sedimentary dynamics that formed the Romanà deposit, the occupation layers are characterized by a high temporal resolution, which makes it easier to interprete the archaeological data in behavioural terms. In addition, the different analytical domains (geoarchaeology, lithic technology, zooarchaeology, taphonomy, anthracology, palaeontology) are addressed from a spatial perspective that is basic to understand human behaviour, but also to evaluate the behavioural inferences in the framework of the archaeological formation processes.​
