The Marinella Affair

She is a young woman with a kind heart – ready to help her friends and neighbors; but she is also a prostitute, even if discreet about her trade and respectful of others. Severino, shocked and unwilling to accept Marinella’s tragic death as a suicide, sets out with his close friend Donanto to investigate the death. Will they succeed in proving the Carabinieri wrong?
The Gariboldi Affair
Crime – Murder – Guilt – Redemption Colonel Emilio Gariboldi is a complex man. He is also a veteran of the Second Italo-Abyssinian War. An idealist as a young man, he had hoped to emulate his hero Italo Balbo and hence joined the Italian air force. A fatal encounter with an enemy intruder while camped with his air force unit on the heights of an elevated plateau near Axum in the northern parts of Ethiopia changes his life forever. The discovery of the body of a young black woman prisoner found in bed next to him cements his embroilment with a criminal organization involved in human trafficking. Almost two decades later, another young black girl is found dead at the foot of the Terzano Tower in Campobasso. Are the crimes related?

Pasture Landscapes and Nature Conservation
One of the main problems and aims of nature conservation in Europe is to protect semi-open landscapes. The development during the past decades is characterized by an ongoing intensivation of land use on the one hand, and an increasing number of former meadows and pastures lying fallow caused by changing economic conditions on the other hand. In several countries the estabishment of larger "pasture landscapes" with a mixed character of open grassland combined with shrubs and forests has been recognized as one solution to this problem. The book gives an overview of the European projects concerning to this topic - nature conservation policy and strategies, scientific results and practical experiences creating large scale grazing systems.
Legal Executions in New England
Between 1623 and 1960 (the date of the last execution as of 1999), Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont legally put to death more than 700 men and women for a wide variety of capital crimes ranging from army desertion to murder. This is a companion volume to Legal Executions in New York State and Legal Executions in New Jersey, both published by McFarland. It is comprised of chronologically arranged biographical entries for the executed persons. Each entry gives personal data on the executed person, including age, ethnicity, and gender, as well as a detailed account of the crime for which he or she was sentenced to death and information on the place and method of execution.
