In and Out of Equilibrium 3: Celebrating Vladas Sidoravicius

This is a volume in memory of Vladas Sidoravicius who passed away in 2019. Vladas has edited two volumes appeared in this series ("In and Out of Equilibrium") and is now honored by friends and colleagues with research papers reflecting Vladas' interests and contributions to probability theory.

Large Sample Inference For Long Memory Processes

Box and Jenkins (1970) made the idea of obtaining a stationary time series by differencing the given, possibly nonstationary, time series popular. Numerous time series in economics are found to have this property. Subsequently, Granger and Joyeux (1980) and Hosking (1981) found examples of time series whose fractional difference becomes a short memory process, in particular, a white noise, while the initial series has unbounded spectral density at the origin, i.e. exhibits long memory.Further examples of data following long memory were found in hydrology and in network traffic data while in finance the phenomenon of strong dependence was established by dramatic empirical success of long memo...

Dependence in Probability and Statistics

This account of recent works on weakly dependent, long memory and multifractal processes introduces new dependence measures for studying complex stochastic systems and includes other topics such as the dependence structure of max-stable processes.

Handbook of Financial Time Series

The Handbook of Financial Time Series gives an up-to-date overview of the field and covers all relevant topics both from a statistical and an econometrical point of view. There are many fine contributions, and a preamble by Nobel Prize winner Robert F. Engle.

Dependence in Probability and Statistics

This book gives an account of recent developments in the field of probability and statistics for dependent data. It covers a wide range of topics from Markov chain theory and weak dependence with an emphasis on some recent developments on dynamical systems, to strong dependence in times series and random fields. There is a section on statistical estimation problems and specific applications. The book is written as a succession of papers by field specialists, alternating general surveys, mostly at a level accessible to graduate students in probability and statistics, and more general research papers mainly suitable to researchers in the field.

Long Memory in Economics

Assembles three different strands of long memory analysis: statistical literature on the properties of, and tests for, LRD processes; mathematical literature on the stochastic processes involved; and models from economic theory providing plausible micro foundations for the occurrence of long memory in economics.

Burgers-KPZ Turbulence

These lecture notes are woven around the subject of Burgers' turbulence/KPZ model of interface growth, a study of the nonlinear parabolic equation with random initial data. The analysis is conducted mostly in the space-time domain, with less attention paid to the frequency-domain picture. However, the bibliography contains a more complete information about other directions in the field which over the last decade enjoyed a vigorous expansion. The notes are addressed to a diverse audience, including mathematicians, statisticians, physicists, fluid dynamicists and engineers, and contain both rigorous and heuristic arguments. Because of the multidisciplinary audience, the notes also include a concise exposition of some classical topics in probability theory, such as Brownian motion, Wiener polynomial chaos, etc.

Chaos Expansions, Multiple Wiener-Ito Integrals, and Their Applications

The study of chaos expansions and multiple Wiener-Ito integrals has become a field of considerable interest in applied and theoretical areas of probability, stochastic processes, mathematical physics, and statistics. Divided into four parts, this book features a wide selection of surveys and recent developments on these subjects. Part 1 introduces the concepts, techniques, and applications of multiple Wiener-Ito and related integrals. The second part includes papers on chaos random variables appearing in many limiting theorems. Part 3 is devoted to mixing, zero-one laws, and path continuity properties of chaos processes. The final part presents several applications to stochastic analysis.
