Forgotten Savior

Medieval England, a prince's love is torn apart at the hands of a hired assassin. Four hundred years later his spirit is reincarnated to the body of James Scott who is inspired to create music following a visit from the ghost of his friend who was killed by a mobster. By the grace of a bird spirit he surmounts a tragic childhood of murder and sexual abuse. He meets John Lennon and is compelled to leave home. Starving and alone he encounters a mysterious hermit who guides him towards success. He emerges from the turmoil of addiction, fame and corruption, to be reunited with his love from centuries past, completing the circle.

The Architect Says

The Architect Says

If there's anything architects like doing more than designing buildings, it's talking about architecture. Whether musing about their inspirations (a blank sheet of paper, the sun hitting the side of a building), expanding on each other's thoughts (on materials, collaboration, clients, and constraints), or dishing out a clever quip, architects make good copy. The Architect Says is a colorful compendium of quotations from more than one hundred of history's most opinionated design minds. Paired on page spreads like guests at a dinner party-an architect of today might sit next to a contemporary or someone from the eighteenth century-these sets of quotes convey a remarkable depth and diversity of thinking. Alternately wise and amusing, this elegant gem of a book makes the perfect gift for architects, students, and anyone curious about the ideas and personalities that have helped shape our built world.

Wave Dynamics and Composite Mechanics for Microstructured Materials and Metamaterials

This volume deals with topical problems concerning technology and design in construction of modern metamaterials. The authors construct the models of mechanical, electromechanical and acoustical behavior of the metamaterials, which are founded upon mechanisms existing on micro-level in interaction of elementary structures of the material. The empiric observations on the phenomenological level are used to test the created models. The book provides solutions, based on fundamental methods and models using the theory of wave propagation, nonlinear theories and composite mechanics for media with micro- and nanostructure. They include the models containing arrays of cracks, defects, with presence of micro- and nanosize piezoelectric elements and coupled physical-mechanical fields of different nature. The investigations show that the analytical, numerical and experimental methods permit evaluation of the qualitative and quantitative properties of the materials of this sort, with diagnosis of their effective characteristics, frequency intervals of effective energetic cutting and passing, as well as effective regimes of damage evaluation by the acoustic methods.
