John married Mary Washbourne and became the father of James Niblett (1674-1743) who was the father of three sons. His many descendants live throughout the United States.

The parents of the author were John Alexander Howard and Velma DuBose. John was born 17 February 1874 in Choctaw County, Alabama. He married Velma late in life and raised three children. John died 27 April 1949 in Temple, Bell County, Texas.
