Elementary Processes in Hydrogen-Helium Plasmas
Atomic and molecular processes play an important role in laboratory and astrophysical plasmas for a wide range of conditions, and determine, in part, their electrical, transport, thermal, and radiation properties. The study of these and other plasma properties requires a knowledge of the cross sections, reaction rate coefficients, and inelastic energy transfers for a variety of collisional reactions. The journalism and personal writings of the great American abolitionist and reformer Frederick Douglass Launching the fourth series of The Frederick Douglass Papers, designed to introduce readers to the broadest range of Frederick Douglass's writing, this volume contains sixty-seven pieces by Douglass, including articles written for North American Review and the New York Independent, as well as unpublished poems, book transcriptions, and travel diaries. Frederick Douglass and the Atlantic World
The events of Frederick Douglass’s early life are well known due to his famous autobiography, yet his extraordinary story continued for another fifty years beyond the struggles recounted in the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave. One of the unexamined aspects of this life is Douglass’s travels throughout the Atlantic world. Lengthy excursions to other countries including Egypt, Haiti, and particularly Ireland, had a profound effect on Douglass’s writing as well as his understanding of how identity is constructed along national, class, and racial lines.
