There is significant market pressure coming from Emirates for Airbus to offer an A380neo. Airbus cannot ignore this pressure, because the A380 program is in need of more sales, and currently Emirates represents the shortest path to such orders. An A380neo should be attractive to other A380 operators as well as other airlines considering VLAs. The VLA segment as a niche but is also valid market. This view puts the focus on order volume, rather than order revenues. VLA s have a historical average (1975-2014) order market share of 4%. Based on both the Airbus and Boeing forecast fleet size for 2033 we estimate the VLA segment to be ~1,000 aircraft.
The regional aircraft market has, in recent years, been defined as the market below 100 seats internationally, and below about 76 seats in the United States. The pending introduction of the Bombardier CSeries and Embraer E2 Jets, moves this definition. These new technology 100-150 seat jets bridge the gap between smaller regional aircraft and the 150 seat and above mainline single-aisle aircraft. AirInsight has extended our definition of regional aircraft to include the crossover segment of new aircraft in the 100- 150 seats range, and we now consider the 150 seats plus market as the new mainline sector.

Embraer’s re-engined E2 aircraft should prove very successful, given the well-established[1] E-Jet customer base, its strong operating economics, and improved performance. We expect Embraer and Mitsubishi to lead the market for regional jets under 100 seats, with the E175-E2 continuing the popularity of the existing E175-E2 in North America and other markets. The E2 program has seen orders grow twice as fast as the E-Jets, and tellingly, twice as fast as its direct competition. The E2 program has 272 firm orders and 670 commitments. [1] The E190/E195 fleet has reached a Schedule Reliability of 99.52% - all flights departed without a delay or cancellation - the highest ever recorded per Embraer
This report is based on independent research studying how airlines are implementing EFB technology, and showcasing how the technology is trending for the industry. This year’s report is based on completed surveys from 57 airlines, which is 33% increased response rate. Given the variance in response rates, we note some changes in the data.

Pratt & Whitney was at one time the dominant player in commercial aircraft engines, only to lose market leadership to GE and CFM International over the past two decades. After an extended 20 year period of research and development on a new architecture that proved fruitful, P&W is poised for a market share rebound through the introduction of innovative, game changing technology.
