This book is a re-cast, condensed and, in parts, re-written version of the author's two volumes D. Martyn Lloyd- Jones: The First Forty Years (I982) and The Fight of Faith (I990). Since those dates, the life of Dr Lloyd-Jones has been the subject of comment and assessment in many publications and these have been taken into account. The main purpose of this further biography, however, is to put Dr Lloyd-Jones' life before another generation in more accessible form. The big story is all here.

Knowing the Times
Martyn Lloyd-Jones biblically informed insight gave a certain prophetic quality to his ministry; not in the sense that he foretold the future, but rather in his God-given ability to put his finger on the essential issues, and to apply the burden of God's Word. Memories of Sandfields
After their honeymoon in January 1927, Martyn and Bethan Lloyd-Jones entered on eleven of their happiest years together at Bethlehem Forward Movement Church ('Sandfields'), Aberavon. Herself a medical doctor (of whom her husband was known to say, 'Bethan is a better teacher than I am'), Mrs Lloyd-Jones had first to come to assurance of her own salvation before she could enter fully into the new spiritual life at Sandfields. These pages are chiefly vivid sketches of some of the converts and of the life of the spiritual family which the church became. Her delightful record leaves no room for admiring anything except the grace of God which transformed such characters as 'Staffordshire Bill' and Mark McCann.
