Sweet Memories are a collection of my writings during the past fifteen years after retirement while living in Virginia Beach and Bettendorf. In both places I joined a writer’s club. The Bettendorf group leader Dr. Margie Schwaninger is an outstanding writer, motivator, and leader. When we took a break this summer, she challenged us to look at our old writings and to put them to good use. This book results from my “looking at my old writings.” I wrote about a variety of subjects. Some were about our culture, customs, work, travel, members of the family and friends who influenced my life and made significant contributions to the world at large, some general topics such as security alarms, railways, Amish and Mennonite and so on. I also copied some articles of interest from my book “Memoirs of Pastor A.C. Samuel.” I have referred to my husband as Daddy, John and at other times as Dr. Thomas in some of these articles. These topics cover life in India and the United States of America.
An Anthology on the origin, history, and development of the indigenous Malankara Nasrani Christian community of India.
I have had the privilege of belonging to a writing group with Mariamma Thomas for the last few years. It has been wonderful to hear Mariamma's family stories and to observe her development as a writer. [...] The life stories and sermons of her father, Reverend Samuel and his wife provide inspiration and lessons in Christian service and their impact on the lives of many people. [...] I know that other readers will find the life lessons and different worldview interesting, informative, and entertaining as well. -Margie Schwaninger, PhD Mariamma Thomas set out to describe her father's journey in the Christian faith and his family life in India so her American children and grandchildren who spok...

In an impeccably indescribable and inexplicable place called heaven, Lucifer throws the gauntlet before God. He challenges God to pick someone for one temptation-filled test. God needs someone like Job for this test. The world is a mess. God takes a back seat in the lives of many. Violence begets violence. Blood is meeting blood. The yawning gap between the haves and have-nots irks only a few. The concern for the destitute drives a scientist, Dr. Decxtrose Epitoppe, to develop a highly nutritious drink from cellulose-wastes in the middle of this chaos. As a result, socioeconomic and health disparities drop drastically in developing countries. Unfortunately, Decxtroses euphoria also plummets ...
God said, Let the earth bring forth. . ! And it was so! The earth brought forth everything God ordered. However, the earth brought forth much more for those who sought—metallurgy, meteorology, metrology, microbiology, magicology, and the like. And there arose a lot of questions also! Did the earth bring forth secret humor that is evident only for those who seek? Is cryptographic humor related to pareidolia, the ability of the mind to see patterns in random data? Is secret humor related to theopneustos, namely God-breathed; or can one explain it by Divine Workingtogetherism? That is, God working all factors together in sundry times and divers manner to bring out humor through snow and ice m...
