Intelligent Systems in Production Engineering and Maintenance – ISPEM 2017
The volume presents a collection of 44 peer-reviewed articles from the First International Conference on Intelligent Systems in Production Engineering and Maintenance (ISPEM 2017). ISPEM 2017 was organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Wrocław University of Science and Technology and was held in Wrocław (Poland) on 28–29 September 2017. The main topics of the conference included the possibility of using widely understood intelligent methods in production engineering. New solutions for innovative plants, research results and case studies taking into account advances in production and maintenance from the point of view of Industry 4.0 were presented and discussed—with special attention paid to applications of intelligent systems, methods and tools in production engineering, maintenance, logistics, quality management, information systems, and product development. The volume is divided into two parts: 1. Intelligent Systems in Production Engineering 2. Intelligent Systems in Maintenance This book is an excellent reference resource for scientists in the field of manufacturing engineering and for top managers in production enterprises.

Death Books from Auschwitz
"This register of names is based on the extant death books of Auschwitz kept in the Archives of the State Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau. In all they contain 68,864 entries. This register lists the last and first names along with the date and place of birth and the date of death as registered in the death books. The number of each entry is included to identify each one exactly." (from "Notes on the Entries" v. 2, p. 3). The Annex in volume 3 is an "alphabetical list of registered prisoners of KL Auschwitz-Birkenau whose deaths are documented ... This supplementary register documents the deaths of 11,146 prisoners ... (v. 3, p. 1417).
Palaeobiology and Geobiology of Fossil Lagerstätten through Earth History
Exceptionally preserved fossils from Fossil Lagerstätten contribute greatly to resolving details on the history of life on Earth. For the first time, the “Paläontologische Gesellschaft” (PalGes) and the “Palaeontological Society of China” (PSC) combined forces to jointly present an international conference aimed to highlight and encourage the study of exceptionally well-preserved fossil sites worldwide. The conference focused on all aspects of palaeontology and geobiology, also incorporating related fields like biogeochemistry, biology, sedimentology and stratigraphy. The present volume contains the abstracts of more than 275 lectures and posters presented during the joint international conference “Palaeobiology & Geobiology of Fossil Lagerstätten through Earth History”. This year’s conference was held at the northern campus of the Georg-August University in Göttingen, Germany, from September 23-27, 2013. More than three hundred palaeontologists, biologists, geologists and other scientists and researchers from sixteen countries, mainly from Germany and the P. R. of China, participated.
Second Order Elliptic Equations and Elliptic Systems
There are two parts to the book. In the first part, a complete introduction of various kinds of a priori estimate methods for the Dirichlet problem of second order elliptic partial differential equations is presented. In the second part, the existence and regularity theories of the Dirichlet problem for linear and nonlinear second order elliptic partial differential systems are introduced. The Battle of Monte Cassino
Melchior Wańkowicz’s The Battle of Monte Cassino is a unique contribution to the history of World War II, indeed the history of war in general. Composed by the Polish master of reportage, this book provides the reader with an exhaustive history of one of the greatest triumphs of Polish arms: the conquest of the German redoubt of Monte Cassino, after months of intense fighting, which provided the Allies with an open road for their progress through the Italian peninsula and, finally, to victory over the Nazis in Europe. The history of the Battle of Monte Cassino (17 January — 19 May 1944), centered on the Benedictine cloister of the same name, which was a key sector of the Nazi Army’s ‘Gustav Line’ of defense. Besides the history of the long Allied siege and the eventual victory won through the efforts of General Anders’ II Polish Corps, Wańkowicz provides an on-the-spot account of the battle, at which he was present, setting the reader in the very midst of operations by his thorough and lively interviews with the soldiers who took part in it.
