By the early 70's, they had advanced to the 8000ers. Although not exclusively Slovenian, the teams were - not surprisingly - dominated by Slovenian climbers, since Slovenia is blessed with the Julian Alps. A fiercely steep range of limestone peaks, the Julian Alps provided the ideal training ground for Slovenian climbers, in both summer and winter. The brooding north faces and razor-sharp ridges taught them the skills they would need on the highest mountains on earth - the Himalaya. But when Tito died in 1980, the calm period ended. Inter-ethnic conflict and economic decline ripped the country apart. Serbian Communist leader, Slobodan Milosevic, led the charge with, what appeared to be an unstoppable strategy of aggression and oppression. But he misread the strength and character of several Yugoslavian states, including that most northerly one - Slovenia. By the summer of 1991, Slovenia was an independent country.

Aleksandrinstvo, the women migration from a small European country to prosperous Egypt (1870-1950) brought with it dramatic changes in the role of women and men, in the value placed on women's work within the traditional economy and within the internal dynamics of their society of origin, both at the level of families and the wider community as well as in the relationships between generations. This emigration had a profound impact on women's self-esteem and at the same time on the public image of migrants as non-conventional female characters whose reputation fluctuated between silent thankful adoration and loud moral condemnation. Monografija v osmih poglavjih sistematično predstavlja ujemanje in razločke med ljudsko in t. i. umetno ustvarjalnostjo. Teoretsko modeliranje razmerij med ljudskim in umetnim pesništvom povezuje z njegovimi zgodovinsko-interpretativnimi prikazi od razsvetljenstva pa do sodobnosti – z obsežno mrežo avtorjev sodobne slovenske poezije, ki so si za svoje odnosnice izbrali prav slovensko ljudsko pesem. Delo obravnava še fenomen ponarodele pesmi, poseben pojav medbesedilnih nizov, ljudsko pesem v poeziji Svetlane Makarovič, Vena Tauferja in Gregorja Strniše ter v proznem delu Fuga v križu Jožeta Snoja.
