The Dialogue of the Seraphic Virgin Catherine of Siena

The Dialogue of the Seraphic Virgin Catherine of Siena

The future welfare of both Church and state depends chiefly on the manner in which the rising generation is brought up, for if all parents were to give their children a good religious training, the future prosperity of both Church and state would be assured, because a good religious training will make children good Christians, and, as experience proves, good Christians are always good citizens. In our "Popular Instructions on Marriage" we have briefly outlined the duties of parents in the bringing up of their children. In this little work we enter more fully into details, and clearly point out, almost step by step, the manner in which Christian parents should bring up their children from birth to the time when they embrace that state of life for which God has destined them may this little book prove useful in directing and assisting parents in the proper performance of the noble but difficult task of making their children exemplary Christians and virtuous citizens!

The Gospels might not be "good enough" for modernity, and science is certainly its god. But neither is an impediment to the one, true God. Indeed, He is using methods of the twenty-first century -- His twenty-first century -- to show how our Faith can be proven through Eucharistic miracles with clinical scientific precision. In this astounding book, prominent cardiologist and author Dr. Franco Serafini walks us through the extensive medical and scientific research into five Eucharistic miracles, unveiling the stunning testimonies of hematologists, oncologists, neurologists, geneticists, molecular biologists, and more who all concluded the same thing: the five Eucharistic miracles are undenia...

Commentary on Aristotle's Politics

Offering the first complete translation into modern English of Aquinas' unfinished commentary on Aristotle's Politics, this translation follows the definitive Leonine text of Aquinas and reproduces in English those passages of William of Moerbeke's exacting yet elliptical translation of the Politics from which Aquinas worked. Bekker numbers have been added to passages from the Politics for easy reference. Students of the history of political thought will welcome this study of a great classic, a commentary by a student of Aristotle who is also a great political theorist in his own right.

Good is a term to handle with care, especially at our times, so dark, so deeply involved with wars, financial crisis, humanitarian emergencies, and terrorism. So why an investigation concerning such a topic? Moving from the early infancy, Ive explored how the inclination to the world of life structures the Self, in dialogue with some eminent scholars of the twentieth century (Ludwig Wittgenstein, Philippa Foot, Robert Nozick, Hannah Arendt) and the classical metaphysics of Thomas Aquinas, in order to throw light on the origin of the moral sense. As a main ingredient of the ethical conduct, the good-as-positive grounds a respectful ecology of life, according to Pope Franciss encyclical letter Laudato s and invites all of us to increase humanity.

The Ancient Sefer Torah of Bologna: Features and History contains studies on the most ancient, complete Pentateuch scroll known to date. It was considered in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance as the archetypal autograph written by Ezra the Scribe. The scroll was rediscovered by Mauro Perani in 2013 at the University Library of Bologna. In this volume, leading specialists study the history, textual and material features, and different halakhot or norms to copy a Sefer Torah, as adopted in the pre-Maimonidean scrolls. The Hebrew text is very close to the Aleppo codex, and the scroll was probably copied in Northern Iberia in ca. 1200 CE. The scroll contains letters with special shapes and tag...
