The Konig family together with four or five related families emigrated in the 1890's and early 1900's from the duchy of Bucovina in Austria and settled in Ellis County, Kansas. Their ancestors were not Austrian natives but had moved to Bucovina from Germany in the 1790's. Bucovina is today part of the Ukraine in the USSR.
