Keith and Elizabeth Stanley-Mallett have once again collaborated in compiling this collection of collated verse. Although their last book, Flies Now The Spirit, was heralded as the last of their ventures, the draw to continue writing poetry proved to be irresistible to them both, especially as they still had ideas bubbling which needed to be brought to life, and as depicted in Elizabeth's poem 'Fidget Fingers', they each needed to keep their minds active on approaching their autumn years. As before, Keith presents his own take on many and varied subjects, expressing his love for nature, which is clearly evident, and giving food for thought with his individual and engaging style. Meanwhile, Elizabeth turns to nostalgia for her inspiration in several of her poems, bringing to life her recollections with a walk down memory lane, evoking pictures of halcyon days gone by. This book is a delight and will appeal to all poetry lovers, both young and old.

Poetry has been a lifelong passion for Keith and Elizabeth Stanley-Mallett. Their work is complementary, and they have inspired and encouraged each other in their pursuit of the poetic art. Their work appeals to a wide readership, its simplicity of form making it accessible to those who do not normally read poetry. This is their fifth collection of contemporary verse, a celebration of life and nature, and the joy of words.

Life with Queen Victoria

"Mallet, Marie? (1862? 1934) British courtier and diarist Marie Adeane was born at Babraham, near Cambrdige, the daughter of Henry Adeane (died 1870), a Member of Parliament, and his wife Lady Elizabeth Yorke, the daughter of the fourth Earl of Hardwicke. Her godmother was the Duchess of Grafton. At her father?s death, her mother remarried to Lord Michael Biddulph. Like her mother before her, Marie served at court (1887? 1901) as lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria. She became the wife (1891) of Sir Bernard Mallet (died 1932), a royal official, and left memoirs of her life at court until the queen?s death (1901). This and her personal correspondence was edited and published by her son, Sir Victor Mallet, a godson of Queen Victoria as, Life with Queen Victoria: Marie Mallet?s Letters from Court 1887? 1901 (1968). During the latter part of her life Lady Mallet served as a Poor Law Guardian for Chelsea in London, as well as being active in various philanthropic organizations. She supported the Amateur Art Exhibition in London, and retained her links with members of the royal family, most notably Queen Mary. Marie Mallet died (March 5, 1934)."--Abitofhistory.net.

This informative genealogy presents ten generations of the descendants of the Huguenot John Mallet (1673-1745). John was one of some 300,000 Huguenots (a Calvinist religious sect) who fled France in the 17th century to escape religious persecution. After a brief stay in South Carolina, during which he lost his first wife and all of their children, John relocated to New England and is noted as a resident of Fairfield, Connecticut as early as 1710. He married his servant, Johannah Lyon, in 1699 and fathered five children with her between 1701 and 1712. The text is divided into three sections: a survey of the existing historical record of the Mallets in North America, the "Genealogical Record" ...
