Living the Truth in Love

Living the Truth in Love grew out of the desire to provide answers to the questions posed for the Synod on Marriage called by Pope Francis: How can the Christian community give pastoral attention to families with persons with same-sex attraction? While avoiding any unjust discrimination, how can the Church give such persons pastoral care in light of the Gospel? How can God's will be proposed to them in their situation? People who want to be instruments of Christ's love to those who experience same-sex attraction (SSA) seek guidance on how best to do so. They need to listen to the stories of those who experience SSA and the stories of those who have accompanied them on their journeys. They al...

I thank God for the opportunity to do this work and know that He will use it in a mighty way to bring people to Him. So many I know were raised in the church and no longer believe. They are such good people, but no longer believe that God exists. So many stories of God's power must have an effect, crowds of witnesses ... A collection of stories about healing of individuals from life threatening illnesses. Each one is medically documented so that there is no doubt about the source of the healing. Stories are written in a lively fashion. Even though the author, Rose Ann Palmer, died from brain cancer, it was her belief and the belief of her husband and her son that she received her healing in ...

The Art of Spiritual Warfare

Since the beginning of time, a fierce spiritual battle has raged between the forces of good and evil. Today the spiritual entities of wickedness are winning, burdening countless souls in a world lacerated by evil. To claim victory, God is calling us to engage in spiritual warfare as the only way to save the world from the desolation that is sure to come. In these pages, theologian Venatius Oforka explains that we are part of a spiritual web through which God acts to save souls. No longer does God create out of nothing. Instead, He achieves His purposes through the prayers and actions we pour in. To win such a sophisticated war, Oforka introduces us to the supernatural weapons of war and how ...

Back In The Swirl

On November 4th, 2007, I visited with my best friend to celebrate my birthday. It was a typical warm afternoon in Florida. I was surprisingly complimented with a delectable meal accompanied by Miami staple drink, Mojitos. I sat in the backyard terrace oblivious to all cares of this world, amid good company and laughter when suddenly I felt a lurch in my stomach followed by a piercing sound and the most uncomfortable, fullness sensation in my ears. The nausea wave followed suit and in seconds my celebratory meal and drinks were inevitably expelled in a projectile vomiting episode. The deja-vu feeling was overwhelming. My relatives and friends' faces danced in a sort of a burlesque fashion around me. I was spinning violently yet my body rested motionless in my chair. The terrace did not stop gyrating and neither did the faces who danced in an uncontrollable kaleidoscope fashion. As I lay powerless and terrified I realized that I was Back in the Swirl... of Meniere!

Slaves in Paradise

This powerful book is about one of the most controversial realities in our modern world: the existence of slave labor in the 21st century, with millions of people today living in horrendous conditions of abuse and subjugation. It is the heroic story of missionary priest Fr. Christopher Hartley who, inspired by the Gospel, committed his life to fight for such workers in the sugar cane industry of the Dominican Republic so they could live and die with the human dignity that was denied them. When he arrived in 1997, Fr. Hartley carried out intense work of evangelization and, calling on the social doctrine of the Church, denounced the situation of slavery of his faithful: he proclaimed it in a s...

The Devil Is Afraid of Me

“We can do nothing against you because you are too protected!” So declared a frustrated host of devils to Father Gabriele Amorth, the priest exorcist in Rome who spent thirty years battling the Devil and his minions by performing more than sixty thousand exorcisms. All the while, he deftly used modern media to awaken our disbelieving modern culture — and even the Church — to the reality of the Devil and his nefarious actions at all times and everywhere. In these eye-opening pages, angelologist Father Marcello Stanzione tells the fascinating story of Father Amorth and his life as an exorcist. You'll learn of his daily schedule and how he managed to perform dozens of exorcisms each week. You'll find out what his exorcism room looked like, and how various devils responded to his bold practice. Best of all, you'll read Father Amorth's own startling explanations of many truths about the Devil that our culture has forgotten — and about th

The Internet and the Madonna

In 1994, a devout Catholic woman from Vermont began having religious visions and hearing the voice of the Virgin Mary. To spread word about her mystical experiences, she turned to the Internet. As Paolo Apolito records here, she is only one of many people who use the Web as a tool of religious devotion. Every day, thousands of Catholics - from I...

Conversion of a Continent

A massive religious transformation has unfolded over the past forty years in Latin America and the Caribbean. In a region where the Catholic Church could once claim a near monopoly of adherents, religious pluralism has fundamentally altered the social and religious landscape. Conversion of a Continent is the first book to systematically bring insights from Latin American authors and case studies into dialogue on the topic of religious conversion. Chapters by Patricia Birman, Alejandro Frigerio, David Smilde, and others draw on various insights from social movement theory to religious studies to analyze both the process of conversion and its impact on national attitudes and activities, gender relations, identity politics, and reverse waves of missions aimed at the immigrant community. Unlike other studies on religious conversion, this volume pays close attention to who converts, under what circumstances, the meaning of conversion to the individual, and how the change affects converts' beliefs and actions. The thematic focus makes this volume important to students and scholars in both religious studies and Latin American studies.
