Did you know that a quarter of all the meat consumed in the United States is eaten by our pets? That's the equivalent to the amount devoured by 26 million Americans, and it makes U.S. cats and dogs equal to the fifth largest country in terms of animal protein consumption. Yet the impact pet food has on the environment and climate change, how healthy or necessary it is for our animal companions, or how it impacts the welfare of the farmed animals who become that food are barely known or ignored--even by animal lovers! The Clean Pet Food Revolution lifts the lid on the current pet food industry: its claims of what constitutes a "natural" diet for pets, its shocking record on animal welfare, an...
While much is known about the frontline of politics, little is revealed about the professionals who labor in secret to make the system work. Hired Gun: A Political Odyssey examines how political parties function and how elections are won or lost. This book follows the adventures of one man's behind-the-scenes political consulting career from local, to state, to national politics. As a political practice, the democratic system remains the most successful form of government in the history of civilization. However, as a profession, politics is still in its youth and riddled with flaws. By offering readers an insider's perspective, Alex Ray challenges us to draw our own conclusion as to whether or not this country's method of selecting leaders is current or fair. In today's political campaigns few decisions are ever as simple as black and white. Hired Gun is an exclusive look at what goes on in the grey.

On the farm there was a pigsty with a barbed wire fence surrounding it. Ernie climbed inside. When a sow charged him, he retreated and cut himself as he ducked under the barbed wire. With blood all over his eye, his mom took him to the nearest medical facility, which was a tuberculosis sanitarium. A doctor there saw the injury was to the eyelid, not the eye. He sewed up the eyelid leaving a small scar. So Ernie was one of the few people in the world who was an outpatient at a tuberculosis sanitarium. It was a busy year for Ernies guardian angel.

The information herein was accumulated of fifty some odd years. The collection process started when TV first came out and continued until today. The books are in alphabetical order and cover shows from the 1940s to 2010. The author has added a brief explanation of each show and then listed all the characters, who played the roles and for the most part, the year or years the actor or actress played that role. Also included are most of the people who created the shows, the producers, directors, and the writers of the shows. These books are a great source of trivia information and for most of the older folk will bring back some very fond memories. I know a lot of times we think back and say, "Who was the guy that played such and such a role?" Enjoy!
