Se supone que su fascinación inicial se dio por los libros que devoraba desde su primera infancia, pero fue en los claustros escolares cuando descubrió su interés por la representación de historias. Con el paso del tiempo, la figura de Caicedo ha ido convirtiéndose en una suerte de mito juvenil colombiano, centrado en su interés descomunal por la narrativa y el cine.
