This book describes the operation and analysis of soft-commutated isolated DC–DC converters used in the design of high efficiency and high power density equipment. It explains the basic principles behind first- and second-order circuits with power switches to enable readers to understand the importance of these converters in high efficiency and high power density power supply design for residential, commercial, industrial and medical use as well as in aerospace equipment. With each chapter featuring a different power converter topology, the book covers the most important resonant converters, including series resonant converters; resonant LLC converters; soft commutation pulse width modulat...
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th IFIP TC 10 International Embedded Systems Symposium, IESS 2013, held in Paderborn, Germany, in June 2013. The 22 full revised papers presented together with 8 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 42 submissions. The papers have been organized in the following topical sections: design methodologies; non-functional aspects of embedded systems; verification; performance analysis; real-time systems; embedded system applications; and real-time aspects in distributed systems. The book also includes a special chapter dedicated to the BMBF funded ARAMIS project on Automotive, Railway and Avionics Multicore Systems.
This conference proceedings summarizes invited publications from the two IDES (Institute of Doctors Engineers and Scientists) International conferences, both held in Bangalore/ India.

All papers have been peer-reviewed. The NRE-VIII Symposium covered a variety of topics from cosmic rays in the solar system to exposure of biota to natural radioactivity, passing through terrorism with natural radionuclides. The Symposium was an example of multidisciplinarity.
This book shows how a small toolbox of experimental techniques, physical chemistry concepts as well as quantum/classical mechanics and statistical methods can be used to understand, explain and even predict extraordinary applications of these advanced engineering materials and biomolecules. It highlights how improving the material foresight by design, including the fundamental understanding of their physical and chemical properties, can provide new technological levels in the future.
