A Colonial Legacy
Strongly favoring the claims of Iran in the dispute, the author examines the historical background of the multifaceted conflict between Iran and the United Arab Emirates over the territoriality of three islands. Regarding the U.A.E.'s claims of sovereignty as a legacy handed down from British colonial domination of the area, the author discusses the histories of Iran, the sheikhdoms that became the U.A.E., and British influence on the area.
