Kanker ginekologi merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan di Indonesia. Pada wanita Indonesia, kanker ginekologi merupakan penyebab utama kematian. Indonesia (136,2/100.000 orang) memiliki kejadian kanker tertinggi kedelapan di Asia Tenggara, dan tertinggi ke-23 di Asia. Kemoterapi memberikan efek terapeutik yang efektif untuk kanker ginekologi. Kemoterapi dapat menyebar ke seluruh tubuh dan dapat mencapai sel kanker yang telah melakukan perjalanan jauh atau bermetastasis ke lokasi lain, tidak seperti terapi radiasi lokal atau lokoregional atau pembedahan. Namun, karena sifatnya yang sistemik, selain membahayakan sel ganas, kemoterapi juga dapat menyerang sel normal.
