This edited book contains a hitherto unpublished seminar held by the author in Milan, Italy in 1985. The seminar is preceded by a foreword by Kate White, of the Bowlby Centre, and by an introduction by the editor, Marco Bacciagaluppi. The introduction contains excerpts from unpublished correspondence between the author and the editor, carried out over a span of eight years, between 1982 and 1990. After the seminar there are the follow-ups of the three cases presented by Leopolda Pelizzaro, Ferruccio Osimo and Emilia Fumagalli, and a report by Germana Agnetti and Angelo Barbato, who gave hospitality to the author and his wife. This is followed by a contribution by Ferruccio Osimo on experiential dynamic psychotherapy, an application of attachment theory, with a long case study. At the end there are some concluding remarks by the editor.

Experiential Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy

They say places like Dry Creek no longer exist. In Stories from the Creekbank, you'll travel to a delightful place where good people and wonderful experiences can still be found. As you sit along the creek bank to read these heartwarming stories, you'll both laugh and cry as you travel down the creeks, roads, and into the hearts and lives of the people who make up this special community called Dry Creek, Louisiana. Whether it's a country preacher ruining his prize white suit, helping corral horses on a muddy road in "Bro. Hodges' Best Sermon," a homesick seven-year-old summer camper in "Seth's Big Camp Day," or the heart-rending sadness of losing a special teenager in "A Bright Light," you'l...

Psychodynamics, Training, and Outcome in Brief Psychotherapy

Psychodynamics, Training, and Outcome in Brief Psychotherapy provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of dynamic psychotherapy. This book discusses the selection criteria, the principles of therapeutic methods, and the factors leading to therapeutic effects in psychotherapy. Organized into five parts encompassing 37 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the influence of research on clinical practice. This text then examines the evidences showing that most of the improvements were in fact due to therapy. Other chapters summarize the essential characteristics of the methods used with the patients in various case studies. This book discusses as well the concept of the triangle of conflict, which refers to one of the cornerstones of psychodynamic theory. The final chapter deals with the advantages of a psychotherapeutic clinic to certain kind of patients who can be greatly helped in a relatively short time. This book is a valuable resource for psychotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers.

Intensive Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy: An Integrated Model (ITAP) introduces a new approach of psychotherapy. Based on psychodynamic foundations, the ITAP integrates the most recent trends in short-term dynamic psychotherapy and Transactional Analysis. This book develops an innovative, clear and complete clinical model of ITAP, and introduces the reader, step-by-step, to the theoretical basis underlying the technique of this intervention. The authors introduce the therapeutic procedure by bringing together the theory with brief clinical examples, thereby demonstrating the attitude of the intense therapist as well as which theoretical pathways to take to progress with the patient. In addition to the modulation of the technique based on the level of the patient’s suffering, there is also a systematic examination of which cases should be treated with ITAP, and in what way. Intensive Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy is a therapy which can be easily used by all therapists, and this book will be of great interest to Transactional Analysis therapists and other therapists interested in Transactional Analysis and short-term dynamic psychotherapy.
