Na de introductie van het boek genoot Wim Aloserij volop van de belangstelling voor zijn verhaal. Hij trok met auteur Frank Krake langs volle zalen en boekhandels. Eindelijk werd hij nu wél gehoord. De kroon op zijn werk zou de ontmoeting worden met het koningspaar, bij de Nationale dodenherdenking op 4 mei. Wim overleed twee dagen voor die tijd en liet een enorme leegte achter. 0Frank Krake schreef een additioneel hoofdstuk over zijn laatste weken met Wim Aloserij. Tevens licht hij een spectaculaire ontdekking toe in dat nieuw geschreven hoofdstuk, verrijkt met vele extra foto's. Krake ontdekte dat de opdracht tot het bombarderen van de schepen in de Oostzee, met 7.000 doden als gevolg, van Nederlandse bodem kwam.
