Global Social Economy
This book addresses ‘global social economy’ which addresses the relation of capitalism to human flourishing, the role of international governance in the world economy, the transformation of work and use of time in internationalizing economies, cross-country developments in gender, poverty, and ageing, and ethics economic policy issues in the international economy. This edited collection examines the social nature of capitalism today, the possibilities for social and economic development in the world under the democratic leadership of the United Nations, and the middle ground between market and hierarchy occupied by gift exchange as a means of coordinating economic value creation and the creation of knowledge. It considers long term issues in the global social economy concerning gender and discrimination, intergenerational poverty transmission, and the role of ageing. From a variety of internationally acclaimed contributors, this collection introduces new social economic perspectives on the global economy that contest the neoliberal Washington Consensus view dominant until recent financial crises.
Research Handbook on Transnational Labour Law
The editors’ substantive introduction and the specially commissioned chapters in the Handbook explore the emergence of transnational labour law as a field, along with its contested contours. The expansion of traditional legal methods, such as treaties, is juxtaposed with the proliferation of contemporary alternatives such as indicators, framework agreements and consumer-led initiatives. La commission d’enquête, composée de vingt-huit membres, a procédé à 37 auditions (soit près de 80 personnes), ouvertes à la presse. Barbara Romagnan, la rapporteure, a également interrogé par écrit diverses administrations et entreprises publiques et privées, de façon à compléter utilement la somme de travaux, rapports, documents, études portant sur ce sujet. La question de la réduction du temps de travail se caractérise par sa position aux confluents des domaines économiques, social, sociétal. À ce titre, la réduction du temps de travail constitue à la fois un outil économique, un projet de société, et une approche renouvelée du travail et du temps libre. À l’issue de ces travaux, le présent rapport propose, après une analyse historique internationale et française du temps de travail (partie I), de dégager les résultats significatifs de la politique de réduction du temps de travail sur l’emploi, l’économie et les relations sociales au travail en France (partie II), puis d’évaluer les effets de cette politique sur la société française de façon plus générale (partie III).
