The papers of Philip B. Hill document his legislative career. Correspondence and subject files make up the collection. There are approximately six boxes of correspondence including letters from Charles Grassley, John C. McDonald, Arthur A. Neu, Robert D. Ray, and Neal Smith.
James B. Hill built the first successful steam-driven tractor ditcher in 1893. He received patent for it in 1894. In 1907, he received a patent for a traction apron that is known today as the caterpillar tread. The pages display dates from September 28, 1942 through May 13, 1943.
