Ubiquitous Computing and Ambient Intelligence: Context-Awareness and Context-Driven Interaction
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing and Ambient Intelligence, UCAmI 2013, held in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, in December 2013. The 46 research papers presented together with 8 papers of the workshop UrbAI 2013 were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers are grouped in topical sections on human interaction in ambient intelligence, ICT instrumentation and middleware support for smart environments and objects, adding intelligence for environment adaption and key application domains for ambient intelligence.
Death by Effigy
On July 21, 1578, the Mexican town of Tecamachalco awoke to news of a scandal. A doll-like effigy hung from the door of the town's church. Its two-faced head had black chicken feathers instead of hair. Each mouth had a tongue sewn onto it, one with a forked end, the other with a gag tied around it. Signs and symbols adorned the effigy, including a sambenito, the garment that the Inquisition imposed on heretics. Below the effigy lay a pile of firewood. Companies and Entrepreneurs in the History of Spain
This book analyses the economic history of the company and entrepreneurship in Spain from the 15th century to the present. It evaluates the economic theory, the formation of the figure of the entrepreneur, as well as the structure of the companies. This exploration of the businessmen in Spain over several centuries is something that has not been done until now. Joining the great Spanish historiographical debate about the existence or not of entrepreneurship, the book brings together research in very different historical contexts and junctures. It presents a selection of cases of companies and entrepreneurs from Spain, from different sectors, regions and periods, from boom to crisis, from the wine businessman to the railway sector, from private banking to the pioneers of the Spanish travel agency business. Los problemas de la geografía escolar y la pandemia
La pandemia ha cambiado nuestras vidas, pero nos ofrece la oportunidad de modificar las rutinas de enseñanza para mejorar la educación ciudadana desde la geografía e historia. Nuestra vinculación como docentes en la formación del profesorado y en el Geoforo Iberoamericano nos hace reforzar la didáctica como instrumento válido para producir el conocimiento y las habilidades básicas para los futuros docentes interesados en la geografía escolar de Iberoamérica. Así, la enseñanza geográfica necesita una práctica para desmembrar las noticias, comprobarlas, contrastarlas y entender su significado en el espacio territorial local y global; es decir, identificar y ponderar la relevancia y trascendencia de los hechos que se producen. Este libro responde al convencimiento que sus autores confieren a las tareas realizadas por el alumnado en general y los estudiantes de la formación del profesorado en particular. Se trata de “poner los tubos de neón” sobre quienes son uno de los ejes centrales del futuro de la educación, que por el desarrollo de su función docente serán los constructores no solo del futuro escolar sino del social y ciudadano.
