THE BEST WAY FORWARD by S.S. SHREEKUMAR
This volume contains the peer-reviewed proceedings of the International Conference on Modelling and Simulation (MS-17), held in Kolkata, India, 4th-5th November 2017, organized by the Association for the Advancement of Modelling and Simulation Techniques in Enterprises (AMSE, France) in association with the Institution of Engineering Technology (IET, UK), Kolkata Network. The contributions contained here showcase some recent advances in modelling and simulation across various aspects of science and technology. This book brings together articles describing applications of modelling and simulation techniques in fields as diverse as physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, industrial electronics, control, automation, power systems, energy and robotics. It includes a special section on mechanical, fuzzy, optical and opto-electronic control of oscillations. It provides a snapshot of the state of the art in modelling and simulation methods and their applications, and will be of interest to researchers and engineering professionals from industry, academia and research organizations.
This book is a result of my deep concern for the brutal realities that our athletes face and realities that the public rarely hears about. I felt compelled to write this book because the conditions that our sportspeople endure defy not just the laws of sportsmanship, but the fundamental principles of human rights This book is my way of exposing these violations. The right to dignity, to fair treatment, to a life free from exploitation—these are rights that our athletes are denied . This book is also a tribute to those forgotten athletes—the ones who gave their all for the nation, only to be discarded when they could no longer compete at the highest level My hope is that this book will serve as a wake-up call, a rallying cry for change.
Football has evolved enormously since Nagendra Prasad kicked a ball 150 years ago. Unlike any other sport, football has left a socio-cultural-economic influence throughout our quest for independence and onto the journey of becoming the world's largest democracy. From Mohun Bagan's 1911 IFA Shield win igniting a nationalist movement to the Indian footballing family's newest child, Bengaluru FC envisaged in a corporate suit, A Game of Two Halves gives its readers a chance to turn back the clock and revisit the glorious days of 11 clubs that made Indian club football invaluable.
Key Features: The Book Covers recent results of the traditional block pulse and other functions related material Discusses ‘functions related to block pulse functions’ extensively along with their applications Contains analysis and identification of linear time-invariant systems, scaled system, and sampled-data system Presents an overview of piecewise constant orthogonal functions starting from Haar to sample-and-hold function Includes examples and MATLAB codes with supporting numerical exampless.
Pele pointed to me and said, ‘This man had prevented me from showing my skills to the audience of India,’ with a broad grin on his face. Football God and Brazilian legend Pele’s words on P.K.Banerjee after the later prevented Pele from beating his Mohan Bagan team in 1977. Beyond 90 Minutes is a candid heart wrenching autobiography of India’s gifted son P.K.Banerjee, in which he bares it all about his illustrious career as a footballer and then as a coach spanning over six decades. It is a delightful reading for any football follower. The book describes the maestro’s uphill journey in life and is told with all candidness and brutal clarity. It’s an engrossing story of a dream journey for a little boy from pre-independent India who went on and was awarded the FIFA Order of Merit, the highest honor awarded by FIFA.
