Penllyn Village: Lest We Forget

This book is written especially to honor the residents in a small black community whose time as a totally black community may be ending. . Not all Black Americans have lived in the urban areas of this country; not a better life, but different. It is hoped that any who read this book would see that the hopes, dreams, and life styles of many Black Americans are no different than those of other Americans. This story is about such people. Just beyond the Bethlehem Baptist Church on the corner of Penllyn-Blue Bell Pike and Trewellyn Avenue, in the village of Penllyn, Lower Gwynedd Township, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, rests a predominantly black settlement. This powerful YA memoir-manifesto follows journalist and LGBTQ+ activist George M. Johnson as they explore their childhood, adolescence, and college years, growing up under the duality of being black and queer. From memories of getting their teeth kicked out by bullies at age five to their loving relationship with their grandmother, to their first sexual experience, the stories wrestle with triumph and tragedy and cover topics such as gender identity, toxic masculinity, brotherhood, family, inequality, consent, and Black joy. PRAISE FOR ALL BOYS AREN'T BLUE A moving and brilliant exploration of Black queerness. Stylist An exuberant, unapologetic memoir infused with a deep but cleareyed love for its subjects. The New York Times An empowering read . . . All Boys Aren't Blue is an unflinching testimony that carves out space for Black queer kids to be seen. Huffington Post Powerful . . . All Boys Aren't Blue is a game changer. Bitch Magazine All Boys Aren't Blue is a balm and testimony to young readers as allies in the fight for equality. Publishers Weekly

New forms of archaeology are emerging which position the discipline firmly within the social and cultural sciences. These approaches have been described as "post processual" or "interpretive" archaeology, and draw on a range of traditions of enquiry in the humanities, from Marxism and critical theory to hermeneutics, feminism, queer theory, phenomenology and post-colonial thinking. This volume gathers together a series of the canonical statements which have defined an interpretive archaeology. Many of these have been unavailable for some while, and others are drawn from inaccessible publications. In addition, a number of key articles are included which are drawn from other disciplines, but which have been influential and widely cited within archaeology. The collection is put into context by an editorial introduction and thematic notes for each section.
