Following pioneering work by Harrison on amphibian limbs in the 1920s and by Saunders (1948) on the apical ridge in chick limbs, limb development became a classical model system for investigating such fundamental developmental issues as tissue interactions and induction, and the control of pattern formation. Psychiatrie der Lebensabschnitte
Das nervöse und psychosoziale System des Menschen ist nicht statisch, sondern unterliegt kontinuierlich den Einflüssen der Entwicklung. Dieser Entwicklungsprozess ist aber kein gleichmäßiges Dahingleiten, sondern jede Lebensphase unterscheidet sich von der vorhergehenden und der nachfolgenden. Je nach Lebensphase und dem erreichten Entwicklungsalter gestalten sich die Lebensäußerungen, die Strategien zur Lebensbewältigung und nicht zuletzt auch die Psychopathologie des Individuums. Im ersten Abschnitt wird die Lebensthematik in den einzelnen Entwicklungsphasen mit ihren Risiken, Chancen und Krisen dargestellt. Im zweiten Abschnitt wird gezeigt, wie sich die Symptome von bestimmten Erkrankungen manifestieren und wie sie sich in den einzelnen Lebensphasen unterscheiden. Die psychiatrischen Krankheitsbilder und Reaktionsweisen sowie ihre entwicklungsspezifischen Ausprägungen werden zusammenfassend hervorgehoben. Im abschließenden Abschnitt werden die psychiatrischen Behandlungsverfahren dargestellt und gezeigt, dass das Entwicklungsalter ganz wesentlich die therapeutischen Vorgangsweisen, sowohl Medikamente als auch Psychotherapie betreffend, prägt.
