Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks

When choosing the technology options to develop a wireless sensor network (WSN), it is vital that their performance levels can be assessed for the type of application intended. This book describes the different technology options – MAC protocols, routing protocols, localisation and data fusion techniques – and provides the means to numerically measure their performance, whether by simulation, mathematical models or experimental test beds. Case studies, based on the authors' direct experience of implementing wireless sensor networks, describe the design methodology and the type of measurements used, together with samples of the performance measurements attained. Wireless Sensor and Actuat...

Multimedia

The nowadays ubiquitous and effortless digital data capture and processing capabilities offered by the majority of devices, lead to an unprecedented penetration of multimedia content in our everyday life. To make the most of this phenomenon, the rapidly increasing volume and usage of digitised content requires constant re-evaluation and adaptation of multimedia methodologies, in order to meet the relentless change of requirements from both the user and system perspectives. Advances in Multimedia provides readers with an overview of the ever-growing field of multimedia by bringing together various research studies and surveys from different subfields that point out such important aspects. Some of the main topics that this book deals with include: multimedia management in peer-to-peer structures

Our society continues to depend upon systems that are built in a way that they end up being inflexible and intolerant to change. Therefore there is an urgent need to investigate innovations and approaches to the management of adaptive and dependable systems. These studies are usually implemented through design, development, and the evaluation of techniques and models to structure computer systems as adaptive systems. Innovations and Approaches for Resilient and Adaptive Systems is a comprehensive collection of knowledge on increasing the notions and models in adaptive and dependable systems. This book aims to enhance the awareness of the role of adaptability and resilience in system environments for researchers, practitioners, educators, and professionals alike.

The concept of transmitting information from one chaotic system to another derives from the observation of the synchronization of two chaotic systems. Having developed two chaotic systems that can be synchronized, scientists can modulate on one phase signal the information to be transmitted, and subtract (demodulate) the information from the corres

Multiple Access Technology Towards Ubiquitous Networks

This book investigates the multiuser communication and its key technology—multiple access technology, as well as transceiving design methods. Multiple access methods toward B5G and 6G currently allows the superposition transmissions of multiuser signals with controllable mutual interference. By deploying advanced multiuser detector, current technology significantly enhances the connectivity, improves the spectral efficiency and simplifies the signaling interactions. Considering that the major challenge of current multiple access technology is the design of transceiver due to the overlapped and distorted signals from multiple users, we analyze the promising candidate multiple access schemes and then develop some sights on how to formulate the transmit signals and how to achieve efficient symbol recovery. Specifically, the incorporation of constellation rotation, rate splitting and deep learning techniques in enhancing the transmission efficiency of multiple access technology are considered.
