George County
George County, named for Sen. James Z. George, became one of Mississippi's youngest counties in 1910. Located east of the DeSoto National Forest, west of Mobile, and north of Pascagoula, the county is embedded in the pine belt, a region that stretches from the Carolinas along the Gulf Coast to Texas. The founders unapologetically boasted that George County was formed by combining the best land from neighboring Greene and Jackson Counties. As the only city in the county, Lucedale was the obvious choice to become the county seat. Lucedale was named for Gregory M. Luce, the Michigan native who saw opportunity in George County's natural resources. Business generated by Luce and other like-minded entrepreneurs set in motion the ongoing development and evolution of local agriculture, transportation, infrastructure, and commerce.

In addition to being a useful primer on the relationship between theology and sociology (both theoretical and empirical), the book provides a wonderfully clear description of the sea-changes that have occurred in Roman Catholic theology worldwide over the past 70 or so years.
Grosse Ile
Grosse Ile Township today is made up of a dozen islands in the Detroit River. The largest island was given the name Grosse Ile by early French explorers who found it being used by the Native American tribes as a fishing and hunting ground. In 1776, Detroit merchants William and Alexander Macomb purchased Grosse Ile from the Potawatomi Indians and, to help establish their ownership rights, built a home and a gristmill and secured tenant farmers to till the land. Later acreage was sold off and settlement began in earnest, although it remained largely an agricultural community. The railroad came to Grosse Ile in the 1880s and attracted both visitors and new residents. Hotels sprang up to accommodate summer visitors who were drawn to Grosse Ile by its healthful climate, natural beauty, and opportunities for outdoor recreation. Today Grosse Ile is home to more than 11,000 residents who have come here to enjoy many of those same unique qualitiesall in close proximity to a large metropolitan area.
James Hogg
James Hogg, a Scottish writer, was the founder of the psychological novel. He perfectly understood the notions of dream and reality, the danger of the voyage in "Nancy Chilshom", the world of the illusions, the lure, madness and strangeness towards the reality of the tragedy, the kingdom of the fairies, death, the finality of art, the supernatural, the Devil and sorcery in Scotland, the Scotland-England couple: the female nation and the male devastator, the carnival of the masks and the reality of his Masonic initiation at the end of his life.
